The nationwide lockdown didn’t stop us from keeping the birthday magic alive!
Spur is famous for making birthdays all the more magical. However, with a nationwide lockdown in place due to COVID-19, children across South Africa are celebrating their birthdays at home, in a very different way than what they’re used to.
These lockdown restrictions didn’t stop us from keeping the birthday magic alive! With an approach of, “If you can’t come to us, we’ll come to you”, Spur created special birthday videos for each child featuring our very own waitrons and employees singing the much-loved Spur birthday song from their homes, while proudly wearing their Spur uniform.
The videos were sent to the parents of Secret Tribe members who celebrated their birthdays during April. A personalised video, which included the birthday boy or girl’s name, was sent to the children who had booked a party at Spur in April.
Our hope was to bring joy to children on their birthdays and add some cheer and fun during lockdown. After “missing out” on celebrating so many South African birthday parties in our restaurants during lockdown, there is no doubt that it has brought as much joy to us at Spur, as it did to you, our special customers!
